Cancer Screening Programme 2025 - 2026
GYUP has been sponsored by Norfolk & Waveney ICB, Gt Yarmouth & Northern Villages PCN, and Gorleston PCN to encourage the communities in Great Yarmouth to attend their regular cancer screening programmes. Screening helps to diagnose cancer or risk of cancer earlier and improve the likelihood of successful treatment. We are hosting events and are providing information videos on: Breast Screening; Bowel Screening and Cervical Screening.
Cancer Champions
Cancer remains a major challenge for our community — our area has one of the highest cancer mortality rates in the country and one of the lowest levels of cancer screening uptake.
Early detection saves lives. When cancer is found at an early stage, treatment is often more effective and survival rates improve dramatically. By increasing participation in NHS cancer screening programmes, we can detect cancer sooner, provide timely treatment, and significantly reduce deaths caused by the disease. Cancer affects more than just the person diagnosed — it touches families, friends, and the wider community. That’s why early diagnosis and awareness are so important.
