Find out who we are and what we do.
Brief notes about GY UP Members and the amazing things they do.
Hi, I am Sarah
I am a GP working in Great Yarmouth. I believe that the society we live in does not make us healthy.
This means that, as a doctor, I am diagnosing, and treating conditions that develop and deteriorate because of the impact of life style and stress on mental and physical health.
Hi I am Emma
A fully qualified and accredited Mediation Teacher. Helping people to find find calm anytime, anywhere.
Have you ever thought about meditation or mindfulness and wondered whether it’s something you could try to reduce stress and aid relaxation.
A Journey from Novelist to Founder
A resident of Great Yarmouth for 62 years, Jax Southam has run her own complementary therapy business in the town and worked with many of Great Yarmouth's GP surgeries as both a Health Trainer and a Social Prescriber.
A "tube-style" map — inspired by Harry BeckAn Underground electrical draughtsman, devised the now-iconic London Underground tube map in 1931. — showing the locations of various projects associated with GYUP, along with other useful information. You can click on the map pins to view larger information bubbles and download an A4 pdf version here. The map is intended to grow and evolve over time as more projects are added. Special thanks to Underdog Studios for creating the map.
We are a Community Interest Company, is a well-known local organisation, providing support and education for communities across Norfolk and Suffolk. ACE primarily operates from two sites, one in Norwich and one in Great Yarmouth. ACE provides support programmes, skills and qualifications for young people and adults, who require additional and individualised help to progress within education, into employment, or further training.

Hi, I am Mike

Steve Manning – Sparking Creativity, One Burn at a Time.
Tucked away in the heart of Great Yarmouth, inside the familiar walls of PrimeYarc, you’ll find a little sanctuary of smoke, wood, and warmth — not from fire, but from friendship.
This is where Steve Manning, the founder of Pyrovision, runs his welcoming pyrography workshops, a place where people of all ages come to create, connect, and maybe even heal.
Hi I am Richard Caddick
At Lonely Llama, we’re building a supportive community where parents and individuals who often feel alone can find real help, understanding, and practical resources.
We connect people with local services, classes, and events, while offering advice on parenting, co-parenting, mental health, and life’s toughest challenges. Our mission is to create a safe space where experiences are shared, voices are heard, and no one has to face their struggles alone.
Hi I am Philip Williams - a Photographer and Web Developer
As photographer my role is peripheral to all the excellent work done by other Members of GYUP. I take photos and try to document the wonderful things GYUP does. If any member would like me to take photos of their activities in support of people in Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas contact me —
Hi, I am Dawn
Communication Collaboration Change
I love the idea that we can all bring our various skills and experience to benefit each other and, more than that, to make a richer community - one that understands, one that shares, one that cares
We have a great and growing set of members and, as a retired Dance Teacher, Research Psychologist and Programme Manager, I am supporting GYUP with whatever skills I have to ensure a strong infrastructure going forwards - probably not through the medium of dance, although that could be interesting.
Hi, I am Jamie from Project APIS CIC
Project APIS CIC is a community-led initiative making beekeeping accessible to everyone.
We set up and support community apiaries, run workshops, and work with schools, churches, and local groups to promote pollinator health, biodiversity, and wellbeing.
