“Breathe in deeply to bring your mind home to your body. ”

— Thich Nhat Hanh

What a nerve (Don't worry you haven't offended me, this is just the title of my new blog post!)

Let me introduce you to the Vagus Nerve – it’s the biggest nerve in your body and crucial for health, connecting everything in our bodies from our brain to the vocal and breathing apparatus in our throat to our spinal cord, heart, lungs, liver spleen, and even the large and small intestine. If you've been to a class with me you might remember me mentioning it, and how we can stimulate it using meditation to aid relaxation and reduce stress.

Last week a few people asked for a bit more of the science behind it, so I've written a short journal entry on my website. I've also included a simple breath meditation technique to strengthen the vagus nerve (you may have done this in a session with me but need a reminder!)
